Machine wash and machine dried or Hand-wash and air dry?
So what’s the best way to wash your velvet hair scrunchies?
Scrunchies or any hair tie is just like any clothing, it gets dirty and you should wash them periodically.
We’ve heard of so many ways how to and how not too so we decided we try it ourselves.
These were tested on our 50 set of velvet scrunchies.
We separated the scrunchies up by colors - Lights and Darks
Washing - We will be machine washing the dark colored scrunchies and hand-washing the light colored scrunchies.
Drying - We'll be machine drying the dark colored scrunchies and air-drying the light colored scrunchies.
First up - Dark colored scrunchies
We washed them on a quick wash with cold water and added (1) Tide pod.
They came out fluffy and semi-dry already. I'm sure they could of air dried perfectly but for this purpose we wanted to put them into the dryer to see what would happen.
We put them in the dryer for 10 mins and they came out perfectly dried and extra fluffy.
End result with machine washed and machine dried: Perfectly fine with our velvet scrunchies. No issues.
You can machine wash your velvet scrunchies purchased from us.
Hand-washing scrunchies time
You can use a pail or fill a sink up with water but we used the washing machine bc it has a built-in soaking tub.
We added a little bit of liquid laundry detergent to the water and scrunchies. A little detergent goes a long way.
You can use powdered detergent as well.
We scrubbed them and rinsed them with water (3) times.
Then squeezed all the water out..
Put them in a container to take them outside
And laid them out to dry.. in the winter sun LOL.
It took them a few hours to dry just bc it's winter right now. You could easily hang these up to dry inside your house as well.
Now they're done.. and smell like fresh nature.
End result of hand-washing and air drying scrunchies: It takes a lot more time but it still gets the job done.
So you can wash your scrunchies either way and still have a great end result. They're still fluffy, no velour is lost and you end up with clean scrunchies.
We hope you enjoyed this :).
